Canon 5D Mark III & Tamron 24-70mm zoom

I was engaged in an interesting conversation this week with some photographers in the USA. One photographer said that she'd just bought the Tamron lens to use with her Canon 5D III. She was saying that she was having regular focussing problems with the lens. She returned to Tamron only to find that the problem was even worse after it came back to her.

Tamron service said that their lenses have not been updated for the Mark III's new focussing system and that it's random whether the combination will work. It works fine for me but apparently Tamron say that the focussing will not work properly in 40% of cases!

Sounds like a big problem for Tamron.

The Countdown Has Started ....

The excitement is growing. I'm a week away from take-off and I wanted to make sure that I had a blog site and web site up and running so that I can use more words to describe my adventure than what I would put up on Facebook (www.facebook.com/davidsokolphotography).

Since photography is such a big part of my life the "real" photos will be huge RAW files so I'll be waiting until I come back home to put a portfolio together. In the meantime I'll be relying on my iPhone photos to populate the blog.

So the days are flying by .... And there's lots still left to do.

Catch you all soon.
